Legendary Locations of Luminari

Places of Power, Mystery, and Peril Across the Realms

Across the breadth of Lumia stretch locations that have transcended mere geography to become legend. Some serve as bastions of civilization, others as crucibles of darkness where heroes are forged or broken. Each carries its own weight of story, its own threads in the great tapestry of the world’s fate.

These are not simply places upon a map, but living chronicles where the past bleeds into present, where the Loom of Aether weaves most visibly, and where the eternal struggle between the Luminari’s light and the Prisoner’s shadow plays out in stone and spell.

Level Range: 1-30
Significance: Political and commercial heart of the realm
Aliases: Also referenced as Hir/Pesh in some chronicles

The most populous metropolis in all of Lumia, where nearly every speaking soul has heard its name whispered in tavern tales or merchant’s boasts. Ashenport stands as a testament to balance—or perhaps controlled chaos—where anything might be found for better or worse.

Government: A curious dual structure:

  • The Mayor oversees internal affairs, appointing judges and guard
  • A Republic of Nine controls the surrounding lands and seas:
    • Four nobles, five elected commoners
    • The Field Marshal breaks ties when needed
    • Perpetual tension between noble and common interests

Districts of Note:

  • The High Road: Main thoroughfare of commerce and politics
  • Bazaar Street: Where coin and rumor flow like water
  • The Street of Bells: Home to shadowed dealings
  • Tavern of the Jade Jug: Where Alerion keeps his vigil against the darkness

Current Threats: Aggressive creatures press against the borders, making merchant travel increasingly perilous.

Level Range: 1-4
Significance: Gateway for new souls entering the realm

A protected hamlet surrounded by ancient woods, where elder wisdom guides fresh adventurers toward their destinies. The village serves as more than mere shelter—it is a crucible where potential transforms into purpose.

Key Figures:

  • The Mosswood Elder: Keeper of intuitions about the realm’s darkening
  • The Mosswood Wizard: Guardian of the gate keys, seeker of rare mushrooms
  • Ulerion (deceased): His death marks the beginning of many heroes’ true journey

Level Range: 7-12
Significance: Village on the edge of Darkling corruption

Built within a protective valley, this settlement has stood for generations as a bulwark against the darkness. Yet proximity to evil has its price—the trolls in nearby caves grow ever stronger, touched by shadow.

Notable Elements:

  • The Troll Caves: Once-neutral territory now corrupted by the Darkling King
  • The Old Man: Keeper of the legendary weapon’s secrets
  • The Graveyard: Where the ghost of Tahgoth, greatest warrior of Graven Hollow, still walks

Level Range: 25-30
Size: Medium (30-60 rooms)
Threat: Darkling Cultist operation

A four-level descent into corruption where Darklings have discovered rich veins of Arcanite, mining the very substance of magic for their fell rituals.

Structure:

  1. Level 1: Giant Arcanite-infused rats guard the upper tunnels
  2. Level 2: Twisted miners, their humanity lost to Arcanite exposure
  3. Level 3: Arcanite Golems, living stone animated by dark purpose
  4. Level 4: The Darkling Cult Leader orchestrates the operation

Level Range: 2-6
Master: Lady Raven, the Soulless (confirmed Darkling)

What appears as a place of learning masks darker truths. Beneath floorboards lie mutated children, victims of twisted sorcery. In hidden chambers, necromancy flourishes.

Key Locations:

  • The High Summoner’s Chamber: Contains the hidden torch-lever to the void
  • The Underground: Where failed experiments suffer in darkness
  • The Void: Lady Raven’s true sanctum of necromantic power

Level Range: 13
Original Purpose: Temple of the Luminari
Current State: Darkling-corrupted dungeon

Once a place of peace and contemplation, now twisted into something far darker. Yet within its corrupted halls lies one of the Luminari Artifacts—an orb of immense power that even Darklings fear to fully unleash.

Level Range: 15
Location: Between Memlin Caverns and Orc Ruins (Coordinates: 169, 171)
Nature: Puzzle-intensive quest zone

A village that is not a village, held in thrall by powerful magicks tied to a tragically slain girl’s soul. Here reality bends, and what seems innocent harbors ancient artifacts.

Level Range: 16-18
Significance: Repository of Darkling War secrets

Within these caves lies a mosaic that speaks in symbols older than written history. The bloodstone of Serane serves as its key, and within its depths wait both knowledge and terrible danger. Veralis discovered that the word “Ignitis” spoken in the Glyph Alcove opens pathways to the Underworld itself.

Level Range: 18-20
Guardians: The Gnar royal family
Treasure: The Runic Gauntlet

An ancient laboratory sealed by catastrophe a thousand years past, now home to the Gnar who unknowingly guard one of the weapons against darkness. Swinton Goldwater seeks its treasures with cunning and treachery.

Nature: Ancient portal network
Origin: Pre-historical, possibly Luminari-created
Function: Instantaneous travel between major cities

These artifacts transcend common understanding, their crystalline arcanite concentrations suggesting connection to the very fabric of Lumia’s magical field. Some say they traverse the Otherworld; others claim they fold space through the Loom itself.

Known Active Paths:

  • Ashenport Swiftpath (Coordinates: -64, 99)
  • Links to Elven City, Dwarven Halls, Halfling Shires, and beyond
  • Not all paths remain active; many are lost to time

Location: Avernus, First Hell of the Outer Planes
Access: Requires special rituals and artifacts
Nature: The ultimate destination of the Five Keys

The greatest of all legendary locations, where the one who would unmake all things waits bound by locks both physical and metaphysical. During the Darkling Wars, the prison weakened from excessive Arcanite mining. The Luminari sacrificed themselves to bolster it, leaving only Serane as guardian.

The prison’s seal bears inscriptions in languages that predate mortal understanding, holding secrets to the final key’s creation.

A grand quest line connecting multiple legendary sites in the battle against rising darkness:

  1. Mosswood → Discovery of Ulerion’s death
  2. Ashenport → Meeting with Alerion at the Jade Jug
  3. Wizard Mansion → Confirmation of Darkling infiltration
  4. Graven Hollow → Forging the weapon of flames
  5. Blindbreak Rest → Recovering the Luminari Orb
  6. The Dollhouse → Seeking the girl’s artifact
  7. Mosaic Cave → Unlocking ancient knowledge
  8. Ruined Keep → Racing against Swinton for the Gauntlet
  9. The Underworld → Retrieving the Mad Drow’s necklace
  10. Avernus → Reading the Prison’s seal

Purpose: Metaphysical training space for newly arrived souls
Lessons: Movement, combat, magic, crafting, interaction

More than mere instruction, the tutorial grounds serve as a space between spaces where souls acclimate to their new forms and destinies. Some say the grounds exist partially within the Loom itself, allowing safe practice before true consequences begin.

Multiple locations across Lumia serve as focal points for Darkling power:

  • Resurrection rituals in hidden caves
  • Arcanite mining operations
  • Corrupted temples and mansions
  • Each site weakens the barriers holding the Prisoner

Scattered across these legendary locations lie tools of immense power:

  • The Luminari Orb (Blindbreak Rest)
  • The Runic Gauntlet (Ruined Keep)
  • The Weapon of Flames (Forged in Graven Hollow)
  • The Mysterious Artifact (The Dollhouse)
  • The Five Keys (Components scattered across all Lumia)

Alerion’s network spans the legendary locations:

  • Stohana in Graven Hollow
  • Veralis in the Wizard Mansion and Mosaic Cave
  • Agents in every major city connected by Swiftpaths
  • Each holds pieces of the greater puzzle

“Every stone has its story, every shadow its secret. These legendary places are more than destinations—they are crucibles where destiny unfolds, where the threads of fate tangle and resolve, where heroes discover whether they carry light enough to push back the growing dark.”
